About the Workshop

This Coloured pencil Workshop is suitable for Artists of all calibres and none, working on a tonal paper to create this beautiful Kingfisher bird. At this Workshop, I will show you the layering process that I use in my own work and which pencil tones to use at which stage - it is open to anyone looking to create highly detailed art in Coloured pencils from complete beginners to those wishing to take their pencil work to the next step and I am always on hand to help.

To begin the day, you will receive a workshop booklet and Karen starts with a quick run through of the 'Do's & Dont's Checklist to ensure you get the best out of the medium, this is then followed up with the first demonstration. Each demo helps to  break the Workshop into bite size pieces and shows you how each section is created using a layering technique. As these workshops are only 6 hours long (with a break in between) it is highly unlikely that you will finish your drawing on the day and so an in-depth booklet is given out so that you can use as a guide during the Workshop and at home if you wish to complete your portrait. You can even save it, it may come in useful for future projects.

If this is preferred, you can request to have the full size image Emailed* to you and use it during the Workshop.  A screen will offer better clarity, brighter colours and allows you to zoom right into the image to view those smaller details.

Coloured Pencil Workshop Kits

If you prefer, you can opt to loan a kit for the day or purchase a Home Kit which is yours to keep. The pencils supplied in both kits have been coded by Karen herself and matches the pencils she uses in the Workshop - each pencil colour code is written in the Workshop notes thus making it much easier to select the correct pencil immediately.
